Dr. Aaron Zalis ~ Superintendent Rolla 31 School District

Dr. Aaron Zalis

Dr. Aaron Zalis has been employed by the Rolla 31 School District since 1994. He began his tenure in Rolla as an assistant principal at Rolla Middle School. Before being appointed superintendent in 2010, Dr. Zalis served as Deputy Superintendent for the District since 2002.

His experience as an educator began in 1986 when he was a teacher and coach for the Savannah R-III School District. Dr. Zalis earned his Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Art and Design from Culver Stockton College, Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Arts in Education from Truman State University, and Specialist in Education from Northwest Missouri State University. He earned his Doctorate of Education Leadership from St. Louis University. Dr. Zalis currently serves as a member of Missouri Association of School Administrators Executive Committee, is President-Elect, and has served on the association's Ethics Committee. He served two terms as President of the Missouri Association of School Administrators South Central Region in 2008-09 and 2009-10 and previously served the organization in other leadership capacities. He is a Board Trustee since 2008 and served as Chairman for the State Public School Retirement Systems of Missouri (PSRS/PEERS) in 2010. He has served on the Missouri Commissioner of Education Advisory Committee.

Dr. Zalis is a member of the Missouri Association of School Business Administrators, Missouri State Teachers Association and Rolla Certified Teachers Association. Additionally, he served as a member of the City of Rolla Comprehensive Planning Advisory Committee, is a member of the Rolla Kiwanis Club, Rolla Area Chamber of Commerce, Rolla Regional Economic Commission, past member of the Board of Directors for Sports Incorporated of Rolla, and the Board of Directors for the United Way of South Central Missouri.
